Who We Are
Barone Intelligence & Defense, LLC is a veteran-owned small business dedicated to advancing U.S. national security through scientific and technical excellence. Founded in 2009 as Barone Consulting, we began as a small technical team focused on deep collaboration and Research & Development (R&D) initiatives at DARPA. We have evolved from an organization centered on R&D to one deeply embedded in operational missions, where our technical and scientific expertise directly supports real-world defense and intelligence operations. Today, we are recognized for combining advanced scientific research with hands-on engineering across a range of technical disciplines. Our name change reflects this evolution and the expanded scope of the work we do.
Our Team
Our founders and leadership are builders and makers with a clear focus on scientific and technical innovation, and that mindset shapes who we are. Our team is made up of scientists, engineers, AI/ML practitioners, IT professionals, cybersecurity specialists, analysts, and intelligence mission support experts. We operate at the intersection of research, engineering, and mission execution, bridging the gap between emerging technologies and real-world application. Whether conducting advanced phenomenology research, engineering secure and resilient systems, developing AI/ML algorithms, or sustaining mission-critical infrastructure, we deliver results that matter. We work close to the mission, shoulder-to-shoulder with our partners in both operational and R&D environments. We are equally comfortable in the lab, on the network, or in the field, ensuring that advanced capabilities make it from concept to impact.
