Mala McMaster has supported the DoW and IC for 30+ years. She started her career as a Department of the Army civilian supporting force integration and integrated transportation services for U.S. forces in Central Europe. She then transitioned into the IC and gained extensive hands-on experience with geospatial imagery architectures and mission-critical, globally networked satellite tasking, imagery collection and exploitation systems. Prior to joining Barone Intelligence & Defense, she was the Senior Practice Manager for the Amazon Web Services (AWS) NGA ProServe account, helping clients with their cloud initiatives. At Booz Allen Hamilton, she held several leadership positions where she directed an R&D portfolio and led a $750 million portfolio of advanced phenomenology programs for IC clients. At Lockheed Martin she led a joint NGA and NRO project that was responsible for addressing complex satellite tasking and collection problems. Overall, she has been directly responsible for delivering programs with a combined value of more than $1 billion.
Mala’s philosophical outlook aligns very well with Barone Intelligence & Defense. Her history of service to the IC drives deep operational insights across partner missions, environments, and the advanced technology solutions space. Her background in systems engineering, systems integration, and tech scouting serves as a robust foundation for navigating complex technological landscapes. Her primary focus has always been building camaraderie because people are what make the mission succeed. She has a deep, genuine respect for her colleagues and all of the people that support these vital missions.
In her current role as Executive Vice President, she is responsible for Barone’s strategic direction and the overall national defense portfolio. She also leads our government and partner relationships with the objective of ensuring exemplary support for their mission objectives and priorities. Directing our business development and optimization initiatives from concept to execution has proven very rewarding for Mala. In the spirit of Barone’s DNA, she can be found hands-on in every facet of the company’s business and does not consider any task too small.
